This summer, I will be climbing the world's tallest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro!
Standing at an impressive 5895 metres above sea level, Kilimanjaro lies 205 miles south of the equator and comprises of 3 volcanoes. In August I will set off along the Machame route and reach the summit 6 days later.
The purpose of the climb is to raise money for 3 charities:
The main charity is The Hodgkin Scholarship Trust. With the money raised by the climb, a student from a developing country where they cannot recieve higher education, will be brought to England to study at the University of Bristol. Provided the climb raises enough money to cover the costs of transport and accomodation, the University will waive any tuition fees and the student will benefit from a year of education at Bristol. The student then returns home and imparts their knowledge to their fellow countrymen.
We are also supporting Quest 4 Change who support sustainable projects in Africa and South America, such as building homes and schools, and Feed the Minds, who reduce poverty through education.
So all I have to do is raise £2250 and then climb the tallest mountain in Africa. How hard can it be?
